After celebrating two decades in the house music business at the Winter Music Conference in Miami and closing the Ibiza season with his new residency at Pacha, Grammy winner David Morales stops on his world tour for a unique date at Culture One. STANTON WARRIORS [UK]

At the forefront of the breakbeat scene for 10 years, duo Stanton Warriors represents the genre in its eclectism. Taking garage and pushing it a notch higher, they embraced hip-hop, electro and house to define a style and taking the lead of the breaks scene. Prolific producers and remixers for the likes of Gorillaz, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, they earned a well-deserved residency at the best club in England: Fabric. Their DJ-sets of fame see the Warriors chopping, slicing, editing, re-editing, fixing and reworking tracks live for a more devastating effect of speaker-shattering basslines and massive beats.

ANDREW CHOW [Zouk, Singapore]

Keeping it street since Zouk Singapore opened its doors in 1996, Andrew Chow is a key figure of the local non four-to-the-floor DJs. Urban rythms hold no mystery for this DMC mixing champion, digging the groove back to its roots and spinning old-school beats mixed up with R’n’B, soul, hip-hop up to fidget house sounds. His booty-shaking sets are build to provoke and surprise by changing rythms and showcasing his turntable tricks making him a true party-rocker.

Gifted local producer and DMC DJ champion, Spydamonkee is the real deal when it comes to Hip Hop in Thailand. A set of him goes through all the faces of street music mixing up soulful classics, chart-topping cuts, funky breaks while re-editing and remixing the whole.

Not sticking to a genre, versatile Duke O Phive’s spectrum goes from sweet and lush soul melodies to saturated rock’n’roll guitars, with everything in between. Regular guest and opening act at Bangkok best clubs, Culture One Main Arena is his playground.

 

 
 

MARCO V [Netherlands]

Front-runner in the worldwide club scene, Marco V has seen his name steadily growing to reach the fame of trance's masters. Playing alongside Tiesto, Paul van Dyk or Armin van Buuren, he regularly headlines festivals and his Ibiza's residencies at Cream Amnesia and Judge Jules' Judgement Sundays are highlights of the island. Pioneering a new take on trance, Marco V brought techno sounds to the genre. Easily recognisable by its constant drive and uplifting melodies, the hard-hitting "tech-trance" was quickly adopted by the scene. His productions and mixed CDs have been hailed by the press as groundbreaking and championed by the most respected trance DJ as are his live performances unique thanks to his ability to read a crowd. Ranked 20th in DJ Mag's 2007 top DJ, let's welcome back Marco V for what will be a set to remember.

BRIAN CROSS [Spain]

Marco V’s compilation CD partner-in-crime, Brian Cross is the one all trance addicts have their eyes on. Rising fast as a producer and DJ, his punchy DJ sets attracted the attention of Armin van Buuren and Robbie Rivera who asked him to co-headline their residencies at Amnesia Ibiza. 2008 will be a busy year seeing him touring the world and releasing his awaited new productions. TONI VARGA [Spain]

Toni Varga started DJing in 2000 and was quickly noticed by electro pioneers like Richie Hawtin, DJ Hell or Slam with whom he shared nightclub bills at Ibiza famed Space, Pacha or Amnesia. 2007 saw Toni building his profile by releasing his first production and touring Europe delivering stabbing electro sets combining house and minimal elements, an approved recipe by the always enthusiastic audience turning up at his gigs.

GALACTICSOUL [TH]

Por, aka DJ Galactic Soul, stands for the San Francisco spacey, deep house sound he had pioneered on the Bangkok scene back in 2002. Fast forward to today and Galactic Soul has become a master when it comes to energic beats and dark, funky basslines. His DJ career is prominent as he also founded one of the few electronic music label in Thailand : VooDoo records.

 

 
 

TAY [TH]

Thai born DJ Tay lives and holds several residencies in Australia where his dirty breaks and booty-shaking house music are in high demand. He found some time in his hectic schedule to come back to his native land and grace the decks of Thailand’s first electronic music festival.

 

 

OUM [TH]

DJ Oum’s combination of techy beats, electro riffs and driving basslines haven’t spared Bangkok’s clubbers since the beginning of the millennium. Holding several club residencies and co-founder of the boundaries-pushing collective Glitch Organization, his Culture One set promises to be memorable.

 

 
 

JOHN OO FLEMING [UK]

Revered as one of the most important person in the electronic music scene, a round up of his career certifies John 00 Fleming has been a true pioneer in trance music and is still leading the scene after 20 years in the business. Radio-host, DJ, producer, remixer, label owner are the current projects he is involved in and have earned him praise from his peers and the massive trance clubbing scene. Tirelessly touring the world, John played at the biggest festivals and superclubs in front of tens of thousands, able to capture them all and take them on a journey. Being featured in annual top DJ lists, Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound, Cream are a few places where he graced the decks. As a producer, his musical taste that transcends genres and his determination to seek out fresh, new, exciting music had him become one of the few DJ selling over 1 million CD compilations in his career. His rock-solid fan base will be present at the festival to support this true forward artist.

AJ GIBSON [UK]

Often compared to Paul van Dyk whom he sees as his favorite DJ, Andy Jones aka AJ Gibson, lives up his master fame. His sets are epic and goes from house right through uplifting trance, taking the dancers through a variety of beats and melodies. Gatecrasher and Godskitchen resident DJ, the energy blasting from the speakers reflects the enthusiasm AJ puts while being at the controls. His entertaining personality will shine at Culture One making his performance an unmissable one.

SABAII SABAII [TH]

Thailand's most famous DJ, Sabaii Sabaii is deeply associated with the infamous Full Moon parties on the island of Koh Phan Ngan. Worldwide psytrance devotees know his trademark sound of smooth and lush melodies as he annually plays at every big European outdoor festival. Headlining the first edition of Culture One, it is an homage to his electronic scene dedication. If a genre takes all its meaning at an outdoor event, psytrance has to be this one and it will be the first time it ever happens in Bangkok. It is time to celebrate.

Nurturing Thailand electro scene for more than 10 years, DJ Tann represents the progressive side of trance. His style marries house, progressive and uplifting trance sending dancefloors in wild euphoria at every event.

 

 
 

BANK JJ [TH]

In Bangkok clubs or out on Ko Tao beach, Bank JJ has had his name steadily rising in the Thai DJs galaxy thanks to his DJ sets that many still remember. Subtle but powerful, his selection goes from house right through trance suiting the mix perfectly.

 

 

 

 
 

THE FILTHY DUKES [UK]

This London collective has put up memorable parties and spun DJ sets tearing the roof of UK clubs like Barfly or Fabric. Hedonistic and unpredictable their performances have impressed and took them in the A-list of indietronica bands, opening for LCD Soundsystem, Justice and Soulwax. Culture One will be the next festival on their list where they rocked out, right after Bestival and Glastonbury. They will be headlining the Dudesweet arena.

Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, this collective, similar to our very own Dudesweet, infused silly rock’n’roll and edgy parties onto Malaysian club scene earning them a weekly residency at Zouk KL.
